A gene is a unit of inheritance that contains the directives necessary for the production of a particular molecule and makes up each of the parts of DNA. In popular use, the word gene is used to mean "the biological unit that carries a particular characteristic of the child from the parent.”

In every cell there is a structure we call nucleus. When the cell is divided in two, the process of transferring information to new cells begins with the nucleus division.
